Webinar on Safe and Inclusive Research Training Environments

We’re pleased to announce the second webinar in our series on issues in biomedical research training, workforce development, and diversity. The series is a combination of lectures, panel discussions, and workshops focused on a variety of important topics for the broader training community, such as program evaluation, mentoring, safe and inclusive research environments, and curricular development.

Please join us on Wednesday, February 22, 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. ET, for a webinar on promoting safe and inclusive research training environments. The session will feature a presentation on building a respectful, inclusive culture by Dr. JoAnn Trejo, professor of pharmacology and director of the Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Awards (IRACDA) program at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Trejo is also a principal investigator for an NIGMS grant to develop training modules on safe and inclusive research training environments. Following the presentation, other grantees will share the results from their NIGMS-funded supplements to develop training modules on safe and inclusive environments.

More information and the agenda are available on the webinar registration webpage. Once registered for the event, you’ll receive a link to join the webinar. We strongly encourage a broad range of individuals interested in research training environments to participate in this series, and we ask that you share this information with anyone who may be interested in attending.

Participants requiring sign language interpretation and/or other reasonable accommodations should use our contact form to request assistance at least 5 days prior to the webinar. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the NIGMS website following the event.

Please contact Edgardo Falcón-Morales, Laurie Stepanek, Marie Harton, or Alison Gammie if you have any questions.
