NIGMS Director’s Early Career Investigator Lectures

In 2016, the NIGMS director established an annual lecture to encourage undergraduate students to pursue careers in biomedical research. While the lectures were initially targeted to undergraduate students, the scope has broadened to include graduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral students, and other early-career scientists. These lectures are presented by early career investigators who are working on the cutting edge of science. Speakers give a 30-minute talk about their research to an audience of undergraduate students, followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session, where speakers answer career-focused questions. Each lecture is videocast for viewing live or later.
