New G-RISE and IMSD Funding Announcements and Upcoming Webinar

Funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) for the Graduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (G-RISE) (PAR-21-026) and the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) (PAR-21-025) T32 programs have been issued. The FOAs continue the shared goal to develop a diverse pool of scientists earning Ph.D. degrees who have the skills necessary to transition successfully into careers in the biomedical research workforce.

The new G-RISE and IMSD FOAs have an application receipt date of February 26, 2021. The earliest start date for both programs is February 2022.

Both FOAs have eliminated the requirement that applicants complete Training Data Table 6A. Instead, a more focused set of data on applications and admissions must be provided as part of the Other Attachments section (see our suggested format for these data).

If you’re preparing an application for G-RISE or IMSD, please join our informational webinar on Monday, December 7, 2:00-4:00 p.m. ET to learn about the programs and application components. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions.

During the webinar, we’ll provide a broad overview of the programs and share our expectations for successful applications and the required data tables. You can send questions to us before the webinar or post them in the chat box during the event. Send questions about G-RISE to Sydella Blatch and questions about IMSD to Patrick Brown.

To join the webinar, visit the Zoom Meeting page (link no longer available).

NIGMS Staff Participating in the December 7 Webinar:

  • Sydella Blatch, Program Officer
  • Patrick H. Brown, Program Officer
  • Stephanie Constant, Chief, Scientific Review Branch
  • Justin Rosenzweig, Grants Management Specialist

We look forward to talking with you about the programs. Slides and a recording will be posted on the G-RISE and IMSD webpages following the event.
