Alvin Yeh, Ph.D., is a program director in the
Division of Biophysics, Biomedical Technology, and Computational
Biosciences. He oversees NIGMS Technology Development grants, Biomedical Technology
Development and Dissemination grants, and grants that develop technologies
for microscopy and imaging, including probes and reporters and hardware
and methods, and for investigating and manipulating cells through
manipulation of DNA and RNA.
Yeh was previously an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical
Engineering at Texas A&M University, where, in addition to teaching,
he directed a research program founded on the development of microscopy
technologies utilizing ultrashort optical pulses to address problems in
genetics, development, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. Yeh
earned a B.S.E. in chemical engineering from the University of
Michigan and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California
at Berkeley. He performed postdoctoral research at the Beckman Laser
Institute and Medical Clinic at the University of California, Irvine.
