Biographical Sketch: Zuzana Justinova, M.D., Ph.D.

Zuzana Justinova, M.D., Ph.D., is a program director in the Division for Research Capacity Building, where she oversees the Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) Phase III initiative and manages grants for the COBRE and the Institutional Development Award Networks for Clinical and Translational Research (IDeA-CTR​) programs. She also manages research and training grants in the areas of anesthesiology and peri-operative pain in the Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry.

Prior to joining NIGMS, Justinova was a staff scientist in the Behavioral Neuroscience Research Branch at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), where she conducted research on drug addiction and medication development. Prior to that, Justinova was a research assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Justinova earned her M.D. and Ph.D. in medical pharmacology at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. She was a postdoctoral fellow at NIDA.
