Edgardo Sanabria-Valentin was a Maximizing Access to Research Careers program participant at the Universidad de Puerto Rico-Recinto Universitario de Mayaguez. He graduated in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in industrial microbiology, and later earned a Ph.D. in microbiology from the New York University-Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. Sanabria-Valentin conducted postdoctoral research in the department of microbiology and molecular genetics at Harvard Medical School. He is now an advisor, research coordinator and an assistant adjunct professor at John Jay College in New York.
