James F. Deatherage, Ph.D., is the chief of the Cell Biology Branch in the Division of Genetics and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. He administers grants on cell division, organization, and motility. He has also administered programs and grants in light and electron microscopy, structural biology, and postdoctoral fellowships. He was on the faculty of the University of Arizona before joining NIGMS in 1991. Deatherage earned his B.S. in biochemistry from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Cornell University. He did postdoctoral research at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology.
