NIGMS OPAE Analysis of the National Centers for Systems Biology (PDF, 668KB)
Systems biology is an integrated approach in biomedical research using physical, computational and experimental sciences to understand complex biological systems. It uses advanced computational modeling techniques and high-throughput technologies, and often requires cross-disciplinary collaborations. When applied to human health, systems biology can be a powerful tool to test hypotheses relevant to health and disease, particularly the results of therapeutic interventions.
