Biographical Sketch: Martha C. Garcia Ph.D.

Martha C. Garcia, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Pharmacology, Physiology and Biological Chemistry. She administers a portfolio of research grants on the absorption, transport, distribution, metabolism, biotransformation, and excretion of drugs, as well as drug delivery strategies and determinants of drug kinetics.

Garcia joined NIGMS from NIH’s Center for Scientific Review, where she was a scientific review officer. Prior to that, Garcia worked in the Division of Toxicology, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, at the Food and Drug Administration, and she worked in the biotechnology industry. Garcia received her Ph.D. from the University of Szeged, Hungary, and conducted postdoctoral research at the Eastern Virginia Medical School and at the Osaka Bioscience Institute.
