NIGMS Fiscal Year 2019 Budget

On Friday, September 28, 2018, the President signed the Minibus spending bill to keep NIH Institutes running through September 30, 2019. The Bill and Report language addresses the following:

  • NIGMS’ Total Appropriation would be nearly $2.872 billion ($87 million increase over the FY 2018 Appropriation)
  • PHS funding increases to $1.146 billion ($224 million increase over the FY 2018 Appropriation)
  • IDeA program funding will be no more than $361.5 million
NIGMS plans to fund all grants at committed levels. Additionally, the institute plans to maintain RPG average costs equal to or less than the FY 2018 actual levels. Consistent with other NIH institutes, NRSA awards will see the implementation of these increases for Stipends, Tuition and Fees, Training Related Expenses, and Institutional Allowances https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-18-175.html.
