Biographical Sketch: Lisa A. Newman, Sc.D.

Lisa A. Newman, Sc.D., is a scientific review officer in the Office of Scientific Review (OSR). She currently is the SRO for a standing study section (TWD-B) responsible for reviewing T32 predoctoral training programs in the biological sciences, biostastitics, computational biology, genetics, chemistry biology interface, and biotechnology. She also serves as an SRO for Special Emphasis Panels (SEPs) in clinical trials, clinical translational research, program project grants, and other Center grants.

Prior to coming to NIGMS, she was an SRO at the National Center for Research Resources at NIH. Prior to coming to NIH, she was at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Otolarygology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She received her undergraduate and Master’s Degrees from Northwestern University and Doctor of Science from Boston University. She returned to Northwestern as a post-doctoral research fellow in swallowing physiology.
