Support of Competitive Research (SCORE) Program (SC1, SC2, SC3)

SCORE is a research capacity building program that seeks to increase the research competitiveness of faculty at under-resourced institutions with limited NIH R01 funding that have explicitly stated historical missions or historical track records focused on training and graduating students from groups nationally underrepresented in biomedical research with B.S./B.A., M.A., M.S. or Ph.D. degrees in biomedically-related sciences.

The SCORE Program offers separate research enhancement/development funding opportunities for individual investigator-initiated research awards. The mechanisms used for these funding opportunities are the SC1 (PAR-16-439), SC2 (PAR-16-438) and SC3 (PAR-16-437) awards. Research proposed under any of the investigator-initiated SCORE award mechanisms must fall within the scope of the NIH mission. SCORE awards do not support clinical trials or clinical interventions (see https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-15-015.html for the definition of clinical trials).

For additional information about SCORE awards, see the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts, September 21, 2016, or call Dr. Hinda Zlotnik at 301-594-3900.
