Biographical Sketch: Michelle R.J. Hamlet, Ph.D.

Michelle R.J. Hamlet, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Training, Workforce Development, and Diversity. She manages the Bridges to the Baccalaureate and Bridges to the Doctorate programs. In addition, she oversees grants in the area of cell cycle regulation and K99 grants in the areas of genetics and developmental biology. Before joining NIGMS, Hamlet served as the first training program coordinator in the National Human Genome Research Institute Intramural Training Office. She earned a B.S. in language arts/French from Georgetown University, an M.S. in zoology from Howard University and a Ph.D. in cell and developmental biology from Harvard University. Hamlet conducted postdoctoral research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
