NIGMS has a long-standing commitment to research training and biomedical workforce development. In 2010, we began a training strategic planning process and released our strategic plan for biomedical and behavioral research training in April 2011. Shortly thereafter, we launched an implementation phase, which led to the blueprint for implementation we issued in February 2012.
Research training is a partnership between NIH and the academic community, and we recognize that addressing many of the action items in the blueprint depends on those of you on the front line of training. Many of you already do an excellent job of training and mentoring students and postdocs, and we hope you will share your thoughts and approaches.
Please use this form to send us your comments, suggestions, questions and examples of institutional practices. We will post training examples and strategies but not general comments and suggestions, although we will share these with NIGMS staff involved in training. If you would like to submit comments for posting, you may wish to respond to the NIGMS Feedback Loop blog post at https://loop.nigms.nih.gov/index.php/2012/02/13/optimizing-the-research-training-partnership/.
