Edgardo Sanabria-Valentin was a Minority Access to Research Careers program participant at the Universidad de Puerto Rico-Recinto Universitario de Mayaguez. He graduated in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial microbiology, and later earned a Ph.D. in microbiology from the New York University-Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. Sanabria-Valentin conducted postdoctoral research in the department of microbiology and molecular genetics at Harvard Medical School. He is now a scientific consultant at Novophage, Inc., a biotechnology company that creates green alternatives to prevent industrial surface biofouling.
