Diversity Program Alumni Updates: Teshamae Monteith, M.D.

Dr. Teshamae Monteith

Teshamae Monteith was a Minority Biomedical Research Support program participant at Florida International University, where she graduated in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences. She went on to earn a medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Monteith completed a residency in neurology at the New York University School of Medicine, followed by two fellowships at Thomas Jefferson University and the University of California, San Francisco. She is now an assistant professor of clinical neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. In addition to her clinical duties, Monteith conducts research through a NINDS Research Supplements to Promote Diversity award. She was a recipient of the 2010 American Academy of Neurology Donald M. Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum Advocate of the Year award and the 2013 Harold G. Wolff Lecture award.
