Erich Jarvis was a Minority Biomedical Research Support program participant at the City University of New York, Hunter College, where he graduated in 1988 with a B.S. in biology and mathematics. He later became a MARC predoctoral fellow at the Rockefeller University, where he earned a Ph.D. in molecular neurobiology and animal behavior in 1995. Today, Jarvis is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator and an associate professor in the department of neurobiology at Duke University Medical Center.
