This is a new program that will support multi-investigator, multi-disciplinary teams with novel, high–risk strategies to create fundamentally new imaging probes with enhanced spectral characteristics and to improve, in parallel, methods for delivery and targeting of these probes within living cells. The deadline for applications has passed, and NIGMS expects to award the first grants in September 2008.
