Biographical Sketch: Clifton Poodry, Ph.D.

Clifton Poodry, Ph.D., is director of the Division of Training, Workforce Development, and Diversity, where he oversees the administration of research training grants, including those that are designed to increase the participation of underrepresented students in biomedical and behavioral research. In addition, he manages predoctoral research training grants in the area of genetics. Before joining NIGMS, Poodry served as acting associate vice chancellor for undergraduate affairs at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He earned a B.A. in biology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Ph.D. in biology from Case Western Reserve University. Poodry conducted postdoctoral research at the University of British Columbia.
