Biographical Sketch: Maria Teresa Canto, D.D.S., M.S., M.P.H.

Maria Teresa Canto, D.D.S., M.S., M.P.H., is a program director in the Division of Training, Workforce Development, and Diversity, where she administers Institutional Development Award (IDeA) program grants. She was previously a program officer in the Office of Construction Grants and Division of Research Infrastructure at the former National Center for Research Resources. Canto earned a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico and an M.S. in pharmacology from the University of Illinois, where she also earned a D.D.S . She earned an M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health. Canto conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Cancer Institute.
