Dr. Zatz is chief of the Developmental and Cellular Processes Branch in the NIGMS Division of Genetics and Developmental Biology. In this position, she manages a range of grants in the areas of cell cycle control, programmed cell death and five program projects on the basic biology of human embryonic stem cells. She has led NIGMS efforts to advance stem cell research and she serves on the NIH-wide Human Embryonic Stem Cell Task Force and Implementation Committee.

Dr. Zatz also manages interdisciplinary predoctoral training grants that foster training of biomedical scientists in cellular, molecular and biochemical sciences and molecular medicine. She devotes special attention to the role of training grants in increasing the diversity of the biomedical workforce.
